“Charity Summer” with Hand4Kids

“Charity Summer” – this is a photo-boost project of the foundation “Hand4Kids”. For the past three years the foundation has been taking care of children with disabilities and of their parents. The project aims at caring for people who are willing to help those who need support.

Competitions, sweets, DIY sessions and of course best-shot pictures. While it is raining outside, the participants of the photo-boost project “Charity Summer”, which takes place for the third year in a row, have a lot of fun.

Natalia Kuleshova, Chairman of the Hand4Kids Foundation:

The rehabilitation costs are covered by the foundation. The treatment itself is free (paid by the state), but the parents have to pay for the accommodation themselves. Many can’t afford it – and that’s where we help. Some of the various medicines and diapers are also paid for by the state, but this is not always enough. And that’s where we help. In the long run the parents know that they can contact us in case of problems. When we founded Hand4kids, there were only 5 families – now we help 11 families. I hope for further growth and development, so that we can care for much more families in future.

The photo session was originally scheduled for August, but was postponed to September due to bad weather conditions. The entrance ticket has cost 7’000 KZT (approx. 15 EUR). The entrance to the recreation park, where all activities took place, was paid by adults 1’000 KZT (approx. 3 EUR), entrance for children was free. The price for a “Do it yourself” course was 500 KZT. Here we offered the children to paint on magnets and tie flowers.

Sophia Stotskaya did not think long and decided to participate immediately. She studied for three years at an art school and that was interesting for her.

Sofia Stotskaya:

I painted all kinds of butterflies there, which can be glued to the fridge magnet. They also taught us to make ice cream and cakes. Today I made some myself.

While some of the children wanted to play by themselves, others played with animators. Zhanna Bekbulatova came to “Charity Summer” with her daughter Zhanur and her son Bolat. For her children she tries to choose active leisure activities. This is much better than sitting at the computer all day or playing with your mobile phone, the woman says.

Zhanna Bekbulatova:

We learned about today’s event from Instagram. I came with the whole family. Children love to participate in the DIY courses. They painted a lot, collected flowers.

The photographers help to capture the real feelings and emotions of the children, their smiles. This year 10 best photographers of Petropavlovsk have been invited to participate in the project, among them Yevgeny Lukyanov.

Evgeniy Lukyanov, photographer:

Photography has been my passion for the past 10 years. It’s my profession, which was originally a hobby. I often do reports, report on many different events. I don’t know who could refuse to take part in such a project. In our city there are not many projects with a similar focus on charity and such a good degree of organization.

Last year the project collected half a million KZT. All funds were made available to support families supported by the Hand4Kids Foundation.
